Hello,
I’m on a body- and brain-enforced break at the moment so i’m afraid there's no full issue this week.
However, it’s Disability Pride Month so I couldn't leave you without something to read about Pride.
So I thought i’d share something I wrote this week for one of my favourite outlets, The Persistent, a newsletter that champions the voices of women and marginalised people.
The piece is about several things: the joy of Disabled Queer Prom, coming out, and the importance of community. It's also about the difference between LGBTQ and Disability Pride - both how they feel for me and the reactions they elicit from society. I think it's important to question why they hold such different weights.
The piece is here.
I’d love to know what you think of it.
With love,
Lucy
Beautiful piece, Lucy. I love this "defiant and enjoying ourselves regardless" picture of pride you gave us. Also the belting it out to Pink Pony Club. Yesss!
